2009 Trends: SHOES

30Jan09

SHOOOOOES 🙂 Shoes, shoes, shoes. LOVE shoes.

Okay, now that’s settled, let’s move on to the list. The latest 2009 trends list in the whole internet world:

BOOTS

Knee-high and thigh-high boots… with heels (or the lack of)! These super hot boots will be a trend this year. Check out these pairs I found online:

HEEL SHAPES

Stilettos. Tapered. Thick. Sculptured.

A heel of a shoe need not be boring. Play around with heel shapes! I’m loving stilettos with hidden platforms. They add extra inches without the extra pain. The return of the thick, chunky heel is good too. It gives our feet a rest from the sky-high stilettos. Sculptured heels are definite conversation pieces. It’s best to pair them with basic, minimal outfits to keep the focus on the shoes.

MARY JANES

The ultimate girly shoe is back, better than ever. Say hello to multi-colored, multi-strapped, multi-decorated 2009 mary jane. It’s all about reinvention for this shoe.

SQUARE-TOED PUMPS

Be careful when buying square-toe heels. They should be narrowing to the toe and not fully squared-off.

PEEKED-TOE STILETTOS

You may remember seeing a picture of Victoria Beckham back in 2007 in a futuristic dress and deadly silver heels. That pair was from Giambattista Valli–maker of crazy 6 inch heels. This year, we’re going to be focusing more on the pointy-toed stilettos.

LACE-UPS

This 2008 trend will carry over to this year. Veer towards the booties and ankle-high boots and incorporate color if you’re brave enough. Lace will also be a nice addition to your shoes for 2009.

My pick in the pics: Louboutin. It’s a nice play on loafers.

FRINGING

Easy on the fringing. It’s very easy to overdo this. My personal rule is to limit the fringe to 2-3 layers (depending on the fringe length) and you’re all good. I’m also not into the embroidered folk-y Pocahontas-ish bead-y tall boots. Blah. To each his own.

GO COLORFUL!

Color is the key this year. Put color into your shoe collection!2009 isn’t the year for basics. So go crazy!
